Hunter Suites

Named for Henry Hunter who designed many notable public buildings, schools and private residences in Tasmania. Maylands was one of his last commissioned works prior to leaving Tasmania.
The Hunter Suites are our premium accommodation for couples. These spacious suites are located on the upper floor of the lodge. Each suite has a gas fire and private terrace access that either overlooks the garden and grounds or a view of kunanyi/Mount Wellington.
Room features: Luxury bathroom with spacious walk-in shower and free standing bath, complete with eco-friendly bath amenities, bathrobes and slippers.

Hunter Two Bedroom Studio

Located on the upper floor of the lodge this studio has an open plan lounge area with magnificent views of kunanyi/Mount Wellington. Guests have a choice of king-size bed or twin beds in both the master bedroom and the second open style loft bedroom. Ideal for four guests.
Room features: Luxury bathroom with spacious walk-in shower and free standing bath, complete with eco-friendly bath amenities, bathrobes and slippers. The lounge area includes air conditioning, gas fire, flat screen TV, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, a fully stocked mini-bar and ironing facilities. There is also an additional toilet.

Pearce Rooms

The Pearce rooms are named after John Pearce, a Hobart merchant for whom Maylands was built in 1887. His father, Henry Pearce, arrived in Tasmania as a convict, sentenced to 7 years transportation for stealing lead. It remained the family home until 1912.
These rooms are ideal for couples wishing to stay in contemporary accommodation with a touch of elegance. These rooms are located on the ground floor of the lodge and have direct access to the grounds via a terrace or patio.

Pearce Two Bedroom Studio

Located on the ground floor of the lodge these studios have an open plan lounge area with access to the garden via the patio. Guests have a choice of king-size bed or twin beds in the master bedroom and a king size bed in the studio lounge area. Ideal for four guests.

Brownell Rooms

Our Brownell Rooms are named after the Brownell brothers who established Brownell Bros Department Store in Hobart. Augustus Spencer Brownell purchased Maylands from the Pearce family in 1912.
The Brownell rooms are located on the ground floor. Tasmanian timbers are featured prominently. These rooms can also cater for guests with disabilities if required.
Rooms features: All rooms are air-conditioned and feature a king size bed, flat- screen TV, ensuite with walk-in shower, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, fully stocked minibar, ironing facilities.
